The Committee
Academic Year 2024-25

Josh Hobbins
President
Josh is the President of the Physics Society. He started in 2023 and this will be his second (and final) year. As President, Josh handles the committee and makes sure that everything the society is supposed to be doing is being done on time and to a high quality. He also assists other committee members in their roles and makes sure that he keeps track of all society goings-on. Josh is in his final year of BSc. Physics and has an interest in further study and employment in the Nuclear Energy sector, with a more particular focus on fusion, and is a co-host of the podcast alongside Iwan. Josh likes to play tennis, watch unhealthy amounts of movies and spending a lot of time telling himself he should read more books and then never doing it. He is always up for a chat or bullying about the state of Physoc so feel free to walk up to him and do either of those things whenever you like.
Iwan Cotgreave
Secretary
Iwan is the secretary for the physics society, he picked the role up in 2023 and this will be his second year. As secretary Iwan deals with the admin meaning emails, spreadsheets and newsletters.
He is a 3rd year physics student with his main interest in particle physics and quantum technologies. Iwan is also the primary host on the podcast and lead website developer.
Outside of the University Iwan is an avid scouter and a keen church bellringer leading him to travel up and down the country and seeing all sorts of weird and wonderful places.

Jack Davies
Treasurer
Jack is the treasurer of the physics society and was elected into this role this year. As treasurer he will be in charge of the societies finances and working with the president to decide on budgets for events and socials. Jack is a 3rd year physics student with an interest in fusion energy, semiconductor technology and particle physics to only name a few. Outside of the world of physics, Jack is a barista with passion for coffee, as well as being volleyball player, windsurfer and motorbike enthusiast with the hope to one day tour Europe.
Amelia Seal
Trip Secretary
After being strong armed into being the Trip Secretary for Physoc by the President, Secretary & Treasurer, Amelia secured the role quite easily, running only against the physics society itself. As Trip Secretary, Amelia will plan various academic & beneficial, and fun & less beneficial trips, all of which will be done by contacting various companies for dates/times/prices/blah blah blah etc. and asking other people to do the job for her by suggesting places to visit. She is a 3rd Year Biology Student currently doing a Year in Research Placement (hence you won’t see her on many of these trips or at all really) with the main area of research/interest being plants, butterflies, bees and ecological consultancy. Amelia has a handicap of 10 in golf (no one knows what this means, but she’s happy I guess).

Cai Morgan
Social Secretary
Cai is the Social Secretary for the physics society, he managed to win the role by being the only one running for it. As Social Secretary Cai handles the more social events planned by the society, this means contacting business, polling students on where they’d like to go and begging for a bigger budget. He is a 3rd Year Physics Student currently enrolled on the integrated master with is main are of interest being simulation and practical work. Cai can eat a raw onion without flinching.
Tom Navin
Formal Planner
Tom is this years formal planner - a role he formed following on from last year as the social secretary. As the formal planner, Tom works to ensure the best possible end of year celebration is organised to commend the successes of the society and its members. He is a 2nd year physics student, having completed a foundation year, and is also the student representative for the school. His experience as a rep is invaluable to the society, ensuring all academic and social needs are supported aswell and being an access point for student voice and feedback. Tom has a strong interest in nuclear physics and loves a good pop anthem.
